We are seeking an experienced and motivated shipping manager to join our team. Our previous shipping manager was with us for 9 years, which speaks to the positive company culture and long-term investment we make in our management team. The Shipping Manager will oversee all aspects of packing and shipping multiple orders of custom-printed, plantable, seed paper promotional products each day. Our business is a bit seasonal with the busy Spring season leading up to more flexible hours in the summertime. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with exceptional organizational and counting skills. Some shipping experience and a strong understanding of shipping software systems is required.
Responsibilities:
Pack and ship orders each day to ensure efficient, cost-effective, and timely delivery of our products to our customers. Most orders must ship the same day they arrive in the shipping department.
Coordinate with other department managers to ensure all orders meet the order specs and delivery deadlines.
Manage shipping schedules within our custom-built "Salesforce" software system to ensure timely and accurate shipping of each order.
Efficiently utilize all shipping software tools and systems (primarily UPS, FedEx, DHL, Shipstation, and USPS) to offer shipping quotes, track shipments, and resolve any issues that may arise.
Occasionally work with LTL providers to get rate quotes and execute freight shipments on pallets.
Be familiar with and prepare the necessary documentation for occasional International shipments.
Insure all shipments are adequately and efficiently packed and protected during transit.
Manage and restock the necessary cartons and shipping materials to ship all products safely, efficiently and affordably.
Train and supervise seasonal shipping assistants to ensure all orders are packed accurately and on time.
Investigate and resolve customer issues related to shipping anomalies, and implement corrective action to quickly resolve issues and prevent recurrence.
Be a "student of shipping" to continually analyze and make recommendations for integration, process improvements, and cost savings.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
Some experience in shipping, logistics, or transportation, preferably in a small business manufacturing environment.
Strong team skills, leadership, and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with other managers.
Proficiency in shipping software systems, such as UPS, FedEx, DHL and USPS, for processing and tracking shipments.
Proven problem-solving skills demonstrating the ability to make quick decisions with the customer's and company's best interest always in mind.
Detail-oriented with a focus on data accuracy, product counts, and quality.
Ability to pack an order neatly, accurately, and safely to ensure that the first order impression always "wows" our customers.
Work Environment:
We offer a casual, rewarding and fast-paced work environment. This position is onsite but can offer flexible hours depending on the season and workloads. February- May is typically our busiest time of the year with less flexibility. During these busy months, hours are typically M-F, 9-5 MST. Slower seasons may offer flexible hours during the day and require fewer hours (appx 25-30), but other duties and roles are often available to achieve more full-time employment during slower months.
