Minimum QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work followed by four years of professional level social services experience.NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:Positions require possession of Licensure as a Licensed Master's Social Worker (LMSW) or Licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) by the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners.NOTE:The master's degree in social work must be from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, 1701 Duke Street, Suite 200, Alexandria, VA 22314.Job ConceptsFunction of Work:To serve as sole social worker of a facility having full managerial responsibility over a facility's social services program.Level of Work:Program Manager.Supervision Received:Broad review from higher-level administrative staff.Supervision Exercised:None.Location of Work:Department of Health and Hospitals; LSU-Health Sciences Centers, Acute Care Hospitals, Medical Schools; Veterans Affairs; Department of Corrections.Job Distinctions:Differs from the Social Worker 5-B by the absence of supervisory responsibility.Differs from the Social Worker 6-A by the absence providing consultation on and coordinationof complex program areas involving policy and procedure development for a region or at theheadquarters office in order to assure the provision of quality services is in keeping with recognized standards for the protection of clients that are being served by contract programs.Differs from the Social Worker 6-B by the absence of supervisory responsibility over Social Workers 5-B.Examples of WorkServes as management participant on departmental committees and represents the social work programs on multidisciplinary committees.Acts as consultant on social work matters to other professionals, administrators, psychologists, occupational therapist, medical director, residential care and training directors.Assesses and evaluates social work program effectiveness through quality control activities and statistical analysis.
