Brake Bread - A neighborhood bakery at 1174 7th St West in St. Paul has immediate openings for:
Position: Barista/Front of House
Hours: 20 -32 hrs a week
Compensation: Wages are based on experience and performance. We generally start at a base pay of $15/hr. Pooled tips add roughly $1-2 an hour to your wage and there is a quarterly share of the bakery’s profits. We offer PTO and follow the city guidelines for ESST. You also get free bread and pastries and discounts on any items we carry.
General Schedule:
Thursday- Saturday 6:45a - 2p (Front of House/Barista)
There is a strong possibility of adding Wednesday and Sunday hours beginning the second week of July so weekend availability is a must.
Job Overview:
Duties are shared between 2-3 staff each day. We will play to your strengths with the understanding that we all end up doing some stuff we’re not stoked about
The bulk of the day is spent having positive interactions with our rad customer base at the serving window. This includes making coffee drinks, serving pastries and bread. You’ll get to talk about all this stuff with the customers so loving people, coffee, and carbs makes this job easy.
Package and deliver wholesale products. (Deliveries require a driver’s license and use our van) usually two short 20 minute routes
Some inventory/ordering of stuff to keep things stocked
Down time work includes stamping bags, folding boxes, keeping the patio tidy in the summer and the sidewalks clear in the winter. Some light baking tasks may also pop up like scooping cookies.
At the end of the day the usual closing regime includes sweeping and mopping the foh and some basement areas.

Brake Bread is a neighborhood bakery on West Seventh Street in St. Paul MN that uses bread to build community. We bake seven days a week delivering fresh bread, pastries throughout St. Paul and serving our neighbors at our walk up window several days a week. We use organic/regenerative grains to make naturally leavened breads and traditional pastries. We are tiny and we believe that good things take time.
