Staff Security Engineer (Michaels Stores, Inc. – Irving, TX); Multiple positions available. Work on complex technical security solutions across multiple technology stacks. Design and review security controls, technical solutions, monitoring of internal/external access controls and security safeguards to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information systems assets. Research, design and advocate new technologies, architectures, and security products that will support business security requirements for the enterprise. Support information security leadership team in strategic planning and development. Responsible to monitor, operate, configure, remediate multiple security tools ie firewalls (checkpoint, Fortinet), Network Traffic Detection Tools, Rapid7 SIEM, Akamai Web Security, Bot Management, IPS/IDS, Netskope Web Secure Gateway and other Network Security Technologies). Lead projects and initiatives to design, architecture and verify implementation of various information security controls. Build and Support Firewalls in the Stores. Lead and troubleshoot store network and security issues. Conduct threat and vulnerability risk assessments to determine security requirements and proactively fix security flaws and vulnerabilities. Analyze potential impact of new threats and exploits and communicate risks to relevant business units. Detect, investigate, and manage recovery efforts from security incidents, and assist with incident response plans. Execute systems strategies to support business goals. Resolve cross-functional issues. Position based in Irving, TX. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and 5 years of experience in network & security engineering/support. Must have 5 years of experience in each of the following: Designing, implementing, and troubleshooting network security firewall technologies including Check Point, Fortinet, or similar; IPSEC VPNs, threat prevention & detection – anti-bot, anti-virus, IPS/IDS, SIEM, firewall policy management, vulnerability management; AWS or GCP Cloud networking and security technologies; Security network design and support; and Network routing and switching. Experience may be gained concurrently. Position based in Irving, TX. Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.
