UTMB HealthRequisition # 2401756JOB DESCRIPTIONScope/Function: Under the direction of the Medical Director of the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine Department, the Hyperbaric Technician: Operates the hyperbaric chambers to deliver hyperbaric oxygen to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Medicine Physician. Provides safe operations of hyperbaric oxygen chambers to patients in accordance with established policies and guidelines. Responsible to operate and maintain hyperbaric chambers and related equipment as per manufacturing recommendations. Maintains daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual logs as recommended by the manufacturing and facility policies and procedures. Serves as a Safety Director or Safety Officer for the department based on completion of an approved Safety Director course. Serves as the point person for assessment of materials that are appropriate for the use in and around hyperbaric chambers.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEMinimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
Completed the approved Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS, National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT), or Department of Defense introductory course pre/post hire
Hyperbaric Chambers Acrylics course training.
Existing Safe Director training course completion (Will be required if not already completed).
Preferred Qualifications:
Three years of related experience
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONSRequired:
Certification as a hyperbaric technician (CHT)
BLS certification
Completes initial/annual skills check lists as required by the facility
