Providence Staffing’s construction client is seeking an Asphalt Paving Superintendent in Birmingham, AL. This is a key management position requiring supervision and coordination of day-to-day project operations. Superintendent will be responsible for the completion of the project by planning, organizing and maintaining projects; completing quality inspections; and supervising sub-contractors and staff on time and within budget. Superintendent performs any and all other duties as necessary, but not otherwise specified. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions. Individuals with diverse commercial, industrial, ALDOT, municipal experience desired.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Ensures the safety of crew members and the public who may interact with job.

Calculates the number of trucks required to haul asphalt from the plant according to vehicle capacity, traffic conditions, distance from work site, and productivity of drivers.

Drives job sites to assess progress in meeting time schedules, to detect insufficient utilization of workers and equipment, ensure slope and material thickness to verify compliance with contracts, and to supervise the job.

Supervises and coordinates crew activities, studies production schedules, and estimates work requirements for completion of job assignment in compliance with or beating the job estimate.

Trains Asphalt Foremen and assists in training new crew members.

Maintains time and materials records necessary to complete daily job costing, prepares progress reports material used, cost and adjusts work schedule accordingly.

Maintains and enforces company policies.

Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, product quality, and crew performance.

Will directly supervise multiple projects and crews.

Experience And Education:

10+ combined years of experience as a Foreman and / or Superintendent in asphalt paving road work construction projects

Experienced in scheduling, ordering, field supervision, quality control, and production of all phases of roadway construction

Previous experience with ALDOT is highly preferred
