Type of Requisition: RegularClearance Level Must Be Able to Obtain: NonePublic Trust/Other Required: MBI (T2)Job Family: ConfigurationGDIT is seeking a Release and Deployment Manager to fill a technical software development leadership role across one (or more) VA Corporate Product Lines on the VA T4NG Consolidated Corporate Support Services (CCSS) program serving our Department of Veterans Affairs Corporate Portfolio clients across the entire U.S. CCSS is in contract start-up in its initial awarded Base Period of six months, with three additional one-year option periods that can be exercised.The Release and Deployment Manager will be responsible for driving a sprint team of software developers focused on ticketing (ITSM), metrics, and SecOps components. This lead will ensure fixes, enhancements, modernizations efforts and upgrades to the systems are properly defined, planned, tracked, & led. The lead will partner closely with other sprint teams and service owners to understand critical issues, prioritize the most important efforts and innovate solutions. This lead will ensure risk is minimized and solid software development practices are followed.Note: This is a part-time position. The normal schedule will be 20 hours per week.RESPONSIBILITIES :Assist the project in determining the optimal deployment strategy and approach
Define and document the deployment plan including (but not limited to) the following:
Communication strategy
Governance
Operational cutover considerations and procedures
Testing requirements
Service and system management
Configuration management
Security administration
Risk and issue management and mitigation
Document and maintain the detailed deployment schedule
Collaborate with agency personnel and manage the resources needed to support the operational cutover
Establish metrics to measure and manage the success of a national rollout
Ensure client relationships and satisfaction are maintained by meeting current and potential applications needs, and by working in concert with the PM to help ensure contract compliance
Coordinating multiple parallel deployment efforts to accommodate customer schedules and minimize system impact
Working with technical teams to determine deployment scope and impact
Tracking all problems and changes in deployment plan documents and reporting changes and current configuration
Compiling deployment tasks into a plan, focused on minimizing system interruption and downtime
Establishing goals and plans that meet project objectives
Coordinating technical team resources for participation in deployment execution
Providing configuration management planning for system deployments. Coordinates the change process for deployments so that only approved and validated changes are incorporated into the production system
Briefing customer, technical teams, and impacted stakeholders on deployment scope, timing, and duration. Interactions involve client negotiations and interfacing with senior management
Managing deployment execution via conference bridge and online meeting and conferencing tools
Streamlining deployment planning and execution processes through automation and scripting
Using decision making and domain knowledge to positively impact overall project implementation
Prepare reports showing upcoming and completed deployment information. Distribute reports to internal and external stakeholders periodically and as needed
QUALIFICATIONSRequired Skills and ExperienceBachelor’s Degree and 5+ years of related experience
Experience leading technical teams in planned activities on a conference bridge and using online meeting and conferencing tools
Expertise with Microsoft Excel
Experience and proficiency managing system deployments and be highly familiar with a standardized System Development Life Cycle (SDLC), as well as AGILE methods and SCRUM.
Desired Skills / Qualifications:Excellent communication and organizational skills
Configuration management experience
Working knowledge of MS-SQL Database, Angular and API’s
Knowledge of SharePoint
Developing Visual Basic scripts
Experience with network administration and troubleshooting
Experience using Jira (or similar software) to support Sprint planning and tracking
ScrumMaster certification
PMI-PMP, PMI-CAPM, or PMI-ACP Certification.
