The Director of Business Development directs, establishes, maintains, and plans the overall policies and goals for a business development departmentESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for developing and growing new business to support company's marketing plan and expand the company’s brand
Create on-going identification, development and assessment of DOD and commercial aviation business opportunities, based on proactive marketing, targeting and business analysis.
Provide leadership in executing strategies to support new business opportunities with new and existing customers and retain “follow on” work.
Builds networks of contacts on behalf of company to stimulate interest in company’s products/capabilities.
Educate external customers on the merits of company products/capabilities by giving presentations.
Creates a business plan that illustrates a strategy to achieve annual goals and objectives.
Records all marketing and development information, contacts, and efforts in company database for reference.
Prepares and submits reports to the President on potential opportunities.
The Director of Business Development may be required to perform other related duties to ensure the ongoing needs of the organization are met
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Director of Business Development will direct the overall business development function and perform exempt level decision making including interviewing, hiring, termination, performance reviews and performance corrections. This position has the responsibility and authority to carry out and execute assigned tasks. Job Requirements:KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Advanced computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs.
Ability to enter data accurately into databases.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, regulatory requirements and procedure manuals.
Ability to write complex reports and correspondence
Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff. Will also routinely interact with external contacts such as customers, vendors, suppliers, legal counsel, regulatory agency officials, etc.
Must be trustworthy – will handle confidential information routinely
Effective oral and technical written communication skills to effectively and clearly communicate complex information to others as well as to present information in front of a large group.
Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, etc.
Ability to follow a process.
Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.
Excellent analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data and consider decision impact across multiple areas.
Strong decision analysis and problem solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Must be able to communicate issues to management and regulatory agencies
Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to goals.
Ability to perform basic mathematical computations, detect unobvious facts and issues, and exercise resourcefulness in resolving problems.
Must be able to work independently and stay on task with minimal to no supervision
Ability to multi-task.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Field or other related field
8-10 years’ experience in aviation management and/or business management and/or development
Proven track record of success in the formulation and implementation of business development.
Ability to pass a drug and background screening
Must be able to obtain a government security clearance
