PDS Tech is currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer to work in Huntsville, AL!The position will be responsible for creating and the continuous improvement ofmanufacturing processes related to 5-axis machined parts, welding and fabrication,paint, assembly, integration, and test. The candidate will provide technical expertisewithin a team to develop and implement those processes that meet engineeringrequirements for complex aerospace and defense hardware, both prototypes andproduction.Key responsibilities will include the following:Create detailed work instructions, manufacturing sketches, and other shop floor
documentation
Collaborate with assembly team to develop process flow for assembly,
integration, and testing
Work with programmers and machinists to develop process flow to develop work
packages and solve development solutions
Work with welders and welding engineers to develop process flow to develop
work packages and solve development solutions
Creates manufacturing models and drawing packages for manufacture
Reviews preliminary product designs. Assists in making recommendations to
reduce costs and improve manufacturability and quality on new or existing parts
Provide shop-floor support as necessary to resolve technical and manufacturing
issues
Proficient with 3D CAD/CAM software including modeling, ASSY, BOM, drawing
creation
Analyze and evaluate manufacturing methods and standards problems providing
solutions that positively impact cost, operator safety, productivity, and quality
Basic Qualifications:BS in Manufacturing/Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace
Engineering (or a related field) from an accredited university or enrolled and about to graduate after spring semester 2022. (5 or more years of applicable experience will also
satisfy the BS degree requirement).Excellent mechanical aptitude and mechanical skills.
Proficiency with PC’s (Microsoft Office)
Perform edits to BOMs and Routings in an ERP/MRP system
Familiarity with ISO9000 and AS9100 industry standards, and common military
specifications
Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to theHuntsville - North Alabama, AL area.Other Qualifications:Preferred candidate will have experience developing processes, tools, and work
areas to support welding, machining, assembly, and paint processes.
Demonstrated expertise in Lean principles, manufacturing metrics, and
continuous improvement.
Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint accounting software is a plus.
Familiarity with Solumina MES software is a plus.
Familiarity with Agile PLM engineering design data management software is a plus.
Familiarity with AS9100, IPC, and common military specifications.
