The Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) team is seeking a Mid-Level Manufacturing Engineer located in Huntsville, AL. The Seeker Block V (SBV) project of the PAC-3 program is part of the Boeing Company. The SBV program is currently in development and is in need for a teammate to work development activities necessary to meet customer contractual commitments as specified in the contract Statement of Work (SOW). The SOW defines production engineering work to both support design development of the technical data package, and then to support hardware procurement and integration of the PAC-3 SBV seeker electronic assemblies needed for engineering, flight and qualification testing. The candidate shall be able to work at least 80% of their time on site in the Huntsville Jet Plex facility. The candidate will work with a team of other manufacturing and engineering disciplines to complete tasks as outlined in the SOW. Being a development position, the candidate must be flexible to accomplish tasks that are changing due to the changes/learning of a development effort. The candidate will interface directly with the US government and other external program customers and shall be able to present manufacturing data directly to them. The position requires the candidate to help manage projects using approved project management techniques and will need to work directly with skilled technicians, represented by a union contract. The ideal candidate will be able to participate on the SBV Seeker Integrated Product Team to integrate technical solutions across electrical manufacturing disciplines.

Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop, identify and implement conceptual electronic designs and maintains the program architecture for build/manufacture
  • Conduct producibility analyses to ensure that manufacturing process capability matches requirements
  • Assist in providing producibility information for inclusion in manufacturing project plans and helps document producibility best practices
  • Analyze electrical design/build concepts to evaluate producible design/build definitions
  • Resolve manufacturing electronic technical problems of significant impact to performance, cost or schedule
  • Coordinate and implement new engineering principles, theories, advanced technologies and concepts
  • Validate and ensure production readiness of solutions to complex problems
  • Implement lean principles and technologies to "build to print" circuit card designs


This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 3+ years of experience weapons and missile systems
  • Able and willing to travel up to 25% of the time domestically
  • Experience with Manufacturing, Engineering, Aerospace Domain


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience in manufacturing electronic components
  • Experience with circuit card and/or electronics manufacturing
  • Prior PAC-3 seeker assembly experience
  • Understanding of electronic component DoD requirements for manufacturing


Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
