Job Description:

The Leidos Defense Group has an immediate career opportunity and is currently seeking a Systems Administrator familiar with DNS and Linux experience, based in Montgomery, Alabama.
This position is in support of the AFINC II contract for the highly visible 26th Network Operations Squadron (26 NOS) at Maxwell Air force Base-Gunter Annex, Alabama, which provides a world-wide support mission.
The 26 NOS is responsible for the intranet support of the entire Air Force network.
The mission of the 26 NOS is to operate and defend the Air Force (AF) Enterprise computer network consisting of the AF Wide Area Network (WAN) routers, AF Network Increment 1 (AFNET Inc 1) Gateways, and the 26 NOS Local Area Network (LAN) assets.

The Systems Administrator maintains the Air Force DNS systems, upgrades systems as required, provides all operational and sustainment activities related to the ongoing support of all DNS systems across the Air Force Enterprise.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Resolves routine/complex DNS network problems.
  • Operates DNS enterprise servers, network analyzers, Wide Area Network (WAN) test equipment, and network simulators.
  • Performs DNS administration in a Gigabit Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, terminal servers, and Network Time Protocol (NTP) server environment.
  • Performs DNS related network security architecture, design, and integration on UNIX, Windows, Linux, or other Operating System (OS) configurations.
  • Knowledge of modern LAN/WAN solutions including IP networking - MPLS, QOS, SONET/SDH optical solutions, and serial communications, TCP, UDP, DHCP, SSH, NTP, DNS, ARP, ICMP, SCP, and TFTP, dynamic routing protocols to include EIGRP, and BGP and DMZ zone DNS secure administration.
  • Perform work within the defined SLAs.
  • Work closely with other support and development teams.
  • Create and update documentation where required.
  • Work independently and as a team member.
  • Support on-call rotation schedule.
  • Cross train capabilities with other team members.


Basic Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 3-5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
  • Must have an active Secret Security Clearance.
  • .
  • Must possess an active DoD 8570, IAT Level II Certification at your start date.
  • CompTia Linux+ Certification.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • DNSSEC Professional.
  • Infoblox Core Network 2016 Advanced Services Expert.
