Boeing is seeking an Associate level Safety Engineer to join our team in Huntsville, AL.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work with our Safety and Engineering cross-functional team to perform risk-based hazard analyses, identify appropriate control and mitigation strategies, write and flow down safety requirements.
  • Creates/updates Hazard Reports (HRs) on various subsystems with closed-loop verification of supporting data.
  • Collaborate with reliability engineers to produce complete and accurate reliability assessments, including Fault Tree Analysis (FTAs) and Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEAs)
  • Reviews program deliverables, including hardware & software specifications and schematic drawings.
  • Reviews design changes, non-compliance (NCR), as well as operational notes and provides safety and hazard report impacts.
  • Provides safety support to Problem Resolution Teams (PRTs) and leads the team in risk identification, assessment, and management of safety-related issues.
  • Identifies and flows down engineering, manufacturing and operational/contingency safety
    requirements to internal and external customers to meet program, enterprise and regulatory objectives.
  • Documents safety requirement non-compliance in non-compliance reports (NCR), and presents the NCRs for internal and customer approval.
  • Presents hazard reports to customer Safety Review Panels (SRP) for approval of analysis and documentation.
  • Builds presentations for and participates in product safety boards, safety review boards, test safety programs, safety reviews, design reviews, system safety working groups, and trade studies.


This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes , lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Two ( 2) years or more experience writing hazard reports.
  • Two ( 2) years or more Experience presenting hazard reports to customer boards and/or review panels


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience reviewing program deliverables, including hardware & software specifications and schematic drawings
  • Experience documenting safety requirement non-conformances in non-conformance reports (NCR), and presents the NCRs for internal and customer approval.
  • Experience building presentations for and participation in NASA safety boards


Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
