The Mechanical Analysis and Design team apart of the Missile and Weapons Systems (MWS) division of Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) is seeking an experienced Thermal Analysis Engineer located in Huntsville, AL. The selected candidate will be responsible for creating or modifying thermal math models, running analytical cases to determine environments or temperatures of various components or structures and collaborating with other teams (e.g. Design, Stress, etc.) to ensure requirements are satisfied and issues are resolved. Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform thermal analysis using various thermal modeling software's to build thermal models and assess analysis results (software's include: ANSYS ICEPAK, ANSYS Fluent, SINDA FLUINT, Thermal Desktop, etc.)
  • Supports the development and documentation of mechanical and fluid system and thermal environment requirements to establish the system design
  • Supports the development, maintenance or modification of system, component and installation designs/proposals to provide design documentation to downstream groups
  • Performs and documents analyses to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
  • Work with other Integrated Product Team (IPT) to coordinate design iterations and development
  • Supports system components' designs/proposals standards to provide installation and detail documentation
  • Mentoring less experienced personnel


This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires ship as a condition of employment. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes , lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 5+ years of experience in thermal design and analysis
  • 5+ years of experience with numerical analysis tools such as SINDA FLUINT, Thermal Desktop, CFD, etc.


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 3+ years of experience in thermal design and modeling of aerospace platforms
  • 1+ year of experience providing technical leadership for an engineering team


Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
