Boeing is seeking a motivated and talented Experienced Systems Engineer - Developer/Analyst to join the Missile Defense National Team in Huntsville, Alabama!

The Missiles and Weapons Systems (MWS) organization is a dynamic and growing with a leadership team focused on attracting and developing top talent in support of critical missions for National Defense and Strategic Deterrence. Connected to our customers' missions, we deliver unique capability through our exceptional talent. The programs that we support in Huntsville, Alabama include Ground-based Midcourse Defense, Next Gen Interceptor, precision-guided munitions, and Integrated Air & Missile Defense products (PAC-3, Avenger, ABMD); National Team, and Strategic Deterrence Systems (which includes Minuteman ICBM support and guidance system repair). The Missile Defense Programs in the Huntsville site include Command and Control Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC), Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), and Missile Defense National Team - Engineering (MDNT-E). The Missile Defense Programs in the Colorado Springs area include Command and Control Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) and Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD).

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop simulations designed to optimize utilization of Missile Defense Sensors (existing and future) using object oriented MATLAB programming. The simulation will include Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) Sensor Resource Management (SRM) with the intent of exploring new algorithms and approaches for improved design requirements to include recommended architectural changes.
  • Use developed simulations to conduct performance analyses and support system engineering discrimination products for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA).
  • Coordinate analysis activities and products with functional group leads, senior management, and government personnel responsible for executing analysis tasks.
  • Document analysis results in reports and briefings to be presented to the Missile Defense National Team (MDNT) and Missile Defense Agency (MDA) representatives.
  • May perform as a Lead of a small development and investigative team.


This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor's degree in a Technical Field (i.e. engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or similar)
  • 3+ years of experience programming with MATLAB or similar languages (R, Minitab, C, Java, Tableau, etc.)


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • 1+ year of experience with modeling and optimization algorithm design and implementation
  • Experience in analysis or testing with Missile Defense Agency elements such as GMD, THAAD, Aegis, Patriot, JTAGS or others
  • Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance or an active Top Secret clearance highly desired
  • Experience leading a team
  • Operations research analyst with systems engineering experience. Developmental experience with Sensor Resource Management or similar optimization problem set
  • Experience developing and running distributed interactive simulations (DIS). Analysis experience in aspects of the Ballistic Missile Defense Systems (e.g., Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Fire Control (FOM, GFC), C2BMC, BMDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, counter-countermeasures, or threats)
  • A basic understanding of performance parameters, technical performance measures, methods and techniques definition, sensors, missiles, interceptors, detection/tracking, or Command and Control (e.g., C3I, C4I, etc.) analysis
  • Demonstrated small team leadership experience


Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
