Boeing's Advanced Design and Prototype Solutions (ADaPS) organization in Huntsville, AL is looking to fill multiple software engineering positions in the organization to do modelling and analysis of complex in-space propulsion and electromagnetic systems. The selected candidates will join a team developing distributed simulations of very complex missile or rocket systems. This role will have emphasis on modelling and supporting design/integration of navigation, propulsion and sensing systems.

ADaPS (an organization of over 100 engineers ) supports programs across the entire portfolio of Boeing products including Space Launch Systems (SLS) Upper Stage, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD - missile defense ) , and Advanced Missile Defense efforts including Patriot Advanced Capability. ADaPS specializes in executing rapid prototyping and development programs utilizing small, responsive Agile teams. Position Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the development and fielding of simulations used to develop, analyze, integrate and test spacecraft propulsion, navigation, and communication systems.
  • Work in small Agile teams composed of diverse engineering skills and will be expected to use their talents to tackle complex problems on a variety of programs.
  • Developing technical products, plans, documentation, and briefings in support of program requirements.


This position allows telecommuting. (Hybrid) The selected candidate may be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options. (Huntsville, AL)

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
  • This position requires ship.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Physics.
  • Some type of programming experience or alternatively - accredited coursework with MATLAB modelling, or software development in C/C or Java


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

One or more of the following are desired:
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Physics
  • 2+ years' Experience/ graduate Coursework in optical or electromagnetic (RF - radio frequency) sensing systems such as GPS, GNSS, radars, RF communications, Electromagnetic astronomy, infrared astronomy, or optical astronomy.
  • Some type of work experience or school project involving rocket guidance and control, or ascent modelling
  • Some type of software project involving developing models, simulations or control systems.
  • Some type of work experience or school project involving MATLAB analysis
  • Some type of work experience or school project involving orbital mechanics or high speed flight


Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
