Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) is seeking a Mid-Level Avionics Integration Software Engineer that contributes to the development of test software in Huntsville, AL, residing at the Redstone Gateway Facility, by deriving and capturing the software interface implementation.

In this role, you will have a primary role in capturing avionics software interface implementation and document the data in Interface Control Documents (ICDs) as part of the SLS Program. The position requires experience working with customers, adjacent contractors, Boeing design and test organizations, and subcontractor organizations to identify and document software interfaces. This position will act as a technical expert in providing guidance to software interface implementation and explain the as-documented interfaces to integrators, testers, and operators of SLS rocket. software development activities to ensure the product fabricate meets the needs for integration and flight readiness. You will have the opportunity to diversify your skills while working within the multiple Ground System Software products

Responsibilities will also include:.

  • Use of Code configuration management tools (Jenkins or Subversion or GitLab product, etc.), working in a team environment
  • Software Lifecycle and common Aerospace documentation experience.


This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "US Person" includes , lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
  • 5+ Years of software interface design and Integration, and/or testing.
  • Experience with MIL-STD-1553B/3MIL-HDBK-155, RS-422, and Ethernet interfaces.
  • 5+ years' collaborating with engineering teams.


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience creating/using system level documentation
  • Experience with software integration/testing
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Experience working with NASA


Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Relocation:
This position is located in Huntsville AL, and the position does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
