Boeing's Advanced Design and Prototype Solutions (ADaPS) organization in Huntsville, AL is looking to fill multiple software/system engineering positions in the organization to support modelling and analysis of integrated models of the Space Launch System.

ADaPS (an organization of over 100 software engineers) supports programs across the entire portfolio of Boeing products including Space Launch Systems (SLS) Upper Stage, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD - missile defense), Commercial Space Crew Transportation System (CST-100), Advanced Missile Defense efforts including the PAC3 interceptor sensor system. ADaPS specializes in executing rapid prototyping and development programs utilizing small, responsive Agile teams. ADaPS is looking for a Technical Lead Engineer for the Space Launch System (SLS) Hardware/Software Integration IPT in Huntsville, AL. The successful candidate(s) will focus on identifying areas of interest for Hardware/Software Integration and potential areas where additional testing is needed. The Technical Lead Engineer will coordinate plans and actions with the Hardware/Software Integration IPT to evaluate these areas, uncover any issues, and elevate to the appropriate Product teams and SLS Leadership for action.

The successful candidate will work with teams across a diverse set of engineering skills and will be expected to use their talents to tackle complex problems on a variety of programs. The Technical Leader will be responsible for developing technical products, plans, documentation, and briefings in support of program requirements.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate plans and actions with the Hardware/Software Integration IPT to evaluate these areas, uncover any issues, and elevate to the appropriate Product teams and SLS Leadership for action.

  • Responsible for developing technical products, plans, documentation, and briefings in support of program requirements.


This position allows telecommuting. (Hybrid) The selected candidate will be required to perform work onsite at Huntsville, AL. (at least 2-3 days per week)

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skill/Experience):
  • ship is required
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science or Physics
  • At least 2 years of experience on NASA space vehicles


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

One or more of the following are desired:
  • Experience as a technical leader and making decisions, in a role such as a Chief Engineer
  • Experience with guidance, navigation and control (GNC) for spacecraft or rocket systems
  • Knowledge or experience with large integrated simulations on distributed machines or virtual machines
  • Knowledge or experience with game development or Unity gaming engine for distributed use
  • Experience or school project involving orbital mechanics or high speed flight
  • Experience or knowledge of avionics buses such as 1553, or RS-422 and threaded I/O control
  • Experience or knowledge of telemetry protocols and testing


Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience).

In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
