GENERAL SUMMARY

Monitor the environmental programs of Anchorage Sand and Gravel (AS&G) and its divisions. Responsible for overseeing these programs and for reporting to upper management on their progress.

This position also helps with the day-to-day business functions for the soil remediation business of AS&G to ensure operations are being run in accordance with our permits. This includes all sales, marketing, bidding and help with coordinating arrival and processing of product and shipping of finished product.

All work is to be completed in a safe manner in accordance with all governmental and company environmental and safety policies while maintaining an efficient operating organization. Special attention will be given to the administrative program controls and program related policy matters.

This position requires the ability to work well with people, interfacing with engineers, customers, subordinates, and other company personnel.

REQUIREMENTS

• A minimum of a high school diploma and a degree in a similar field preferred.

• Five to ten years experience in the environmental arena of air, water, and soil quality.

• The ability to read technical materials to interpret specifications and requirements for bids and contract performance.

• An understanding of environmental compliance and a familiarity with environmental regulations.

• Experience in construction related fields is desired.

• Previous experience in preparing construction bids.

• It is necessary to have good oral and written communications skills to represent the company in a coherent and professional manner.

• Experience preferred: Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure, Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments, Soil Vapor and Air Sampling, Emergency Spill Response

• Personal transportation and a valid Alaska driver's license.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES (summary of components that make up the job).

Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

• Develop, apply, and monitor environmental programs and policies

• Advise senior management about environmental matters related to the company's work

• Train staff according to these programs and policies

• Review and complete environmental audits and identify areas for improvement

• Responsible for general sales for our soil remediation division

• Responsible for pricing to maximize profitability of working assets

• Coordinate and/or approve scheduling of material to be received by ASR

• Coordinate shipping of finished product from ASR

• Manage multiple jobs and help plan scheduling for remediation work

• Inform General Manager of business activities and special developments

• Other duties as required by General Manager.
