ALPHA Services, an experienced, award winning federal contractor with headquarters in Nevada supporting agencies nationwide is seeking a Front Desk Clerk for the Military and Family Readiness Center at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson, AK.

Tasks include the following.

Provide general receptionist duties to include answering phones, taking messages and responding to email messages.

Assess customer needs and appropriately refer them to self-help materials, or M&FRC staff members for immediate one-on-one in a crisis or by appointment for further consultation.

Assist the M&FRC staff in providing a full range of readiness services to include the following areas: transition assistance, spouse employment, relocation, financial readiness, family life, exceptional family, school information and personal readiness information to authorized patrons seeking assistance at the M&FRC.

Maintaining job announcements, both electronic and hard copies.

Ensuring that adequate house-cleaning is accomplished each day to keep the Discovery Resource Center (DRC) in an orderly manner; i.e., dusting, straightening papers, cleaning off tables and desks, stocking books, DVDs, CDs, etc. Check printers and fax have paper loaded and sign in log available.

Ensure maintenance of accountability statistics on resources used by clients as directed by M&FRC Chief.

Information & Referral

Work with base agencies to provide customers with current agency information, updating display materials every six months to reflect changes/additions.

Provide information and referral services to clients seeking assistance with financial matters, parenting, relationship problems, change management, transition, careers, relocation information, and all other M&FRC services.

Assess and clarify customers’ needs via phone calls or as walk-ins to the M&FRC. Refer customers to appropriate resources or Community Readiness Consultants/Specialists.

Be familiar with the cataloging system for print and electronic materials as established by the M&FRC management, and be able to assist clients in locating and selecting appropriate resource materials based on their needs.

Maintain knowledge of and connections with all base agencies and off-base community resources for customer referral.

Administration/AFFIRST

Understand M&FRC database procedures, assisting in M&FRC administration tasks as necessary.

Using AFFIRST database, track all customer contact, update customer personal information, manage workshops and records and input outreach contacts.

Miscellaneous

Ensure the DRC is properly closed at the end of the official duty day if the last person in the building. All lights and equipment shall be turned off. When other M&FRC staff members are not present, be responsible for turning off lights in restrooms and hallway, as well as securing outside doors to the building.

Qualifications

Experience in customer service; professional appearance

Competence in basic computer operations; knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Minimum of one year experience working in an assistance agency/social service environment.

Basic understanding of military protocol, support group organizations, understanding of family systems in a military setting, ability to communicate, and work effectively with diverse groups.

Good communication skills and the ability to use and comprehend the English language including fluently speaking, writing and reading, in a professional social service environment.

Hours of Operation. Monday through Friday from 0730 – 1630 hrs, except on Federal Holidays or when changes to the schedule occur (i.e. evening classes or evening hours). Hours may be adjusted with prior approval or by direction of the M&FRC Chief. 10 federal holidays. Note: PACAF Family Days are not federal holidays; however the employee may be excused from duty on these days at the direction of M&FRC management.
