of the Alaska Healthcare System (AVAHS).Learn more about this agencyResponsibilitiesThe incumbent has primary responsibility for administrative needs

related to day-to-day coordination of the Healthcare for Homeless

Veterans service line. Health Care of Homeless Veterans (HCHV)

Service of the Alaska Healthcare System (AVAHS) consists of the

following programs: (1) Compensated Work Therapy Transitional Work

Experience (CWT/TWE)), (2) Compensated Work Therapy/Transitional

Housing (CWT/TR) program, (3) Outreach Program, (4) Housing and

Urban Development/Veterans Affairs Supported Housing (HUD/VASH), (5)

Compensated Work Therapy Community Based Employment Services

(CWT/CBES), (6) Veterans Justice Outreach (VJO), (7) Health Care for

Reentry Veterans (HCRV) (8) Grant and Per Diem (GPD) The incumbent's

primary duties and assignment will be with HUD/VASH but will also

provide program support to the remaining HCHV programs as directed

by the Chief, HCHV.Responsibilities for the Administrative Support Assistant include:- - Provides administrative assistance (mail, phones,

scheduling, etc.) to HCHV;

- Serves as primary receptionist for the department;

- Greets all incoming customers to include Veterans, staff,

applicants, volunteers, students, and contractors;

- Coordinates customer needs including warm handoff to the

appropriate HCHV employee;

- Interacts with a wide variety of staff and customers;

- Performs administrative work, which includes record keeping,

and procuring supplies;

- Serves as primary timekeeper;

QualificationsTo qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements

by the closing date of this announcement, 11/08/2019.Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal

employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks

must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of

this announcement. For a GS-05 position you must have served 52

weeks at the GS-04. The grade may have been in any occupation, but

must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your

time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application

materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the

past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year

- Specialized Experience: You must have one year of

specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower

grade GS-04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation

in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would

typically include, but are not limited to: Knowledge of

administrative and clerical work procedure and practices,

knowledge of correspondence rules and processes, advanced skill

in using automated equipment and software, and good oral and

written communication. OR,

- Education: Applicants may substitute education for the

required experience. To qualify based on education for this

grade level you must possess Four (4) years of education above

the high school level in any field for which high school

graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This

education must have been obtained in an accredited business,

secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or

university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as

30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a

college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom

instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business,

secretarial, or technical school. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)

- Combination: Applicants may also combine education and

experience to qualify at this level. You must have an

combination of specialized experience and education beyond. You

must possess a combination of successfully completed education

and experience to meet the total experience requirements. (i.e.

6 months of specialized experience and 3 years of education

above the high school level). NOTE: Only education beyond the

second year can be used in combination with specialized

experience to qualify for this grade. (Transcripts Required)Note: Evidence of specialized experience must be supported by

detailed documentation of duties performed in positions held on your

resume. You must provide work experience information such as hours
