Animal Control Officer: Anchorage Animal Care & Control

Anchorage Animal Care & Control is looking to add an Animal Control Officer to the Enforcement Team! Animal Control Officers are responsible for capturing and impounding dangerous or stray animals, investigating cases of animal cruelty, enforcing licensing laws, providing expert testimony in court cases, rescuing trapped animals, preparing incident reports, and providing humane care to animals under their supervision. ACOs work under limited supervision from the Enforcement Supervisor, and respond to requests for animal control service is accordance with Anchorage Municipal Code Title 17.

This is a full-time, permanent position, working 40 hours/week. Benefits begin on the Date of Hire and options include medical/Rx, dental, vision, life insurance and 401(k), with a 401(k) company match after one year! The hourly pay is DOE, ranging $20.00 - $22.00 (equivalent to $41,600 - $45,760 annual).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

- High school diploma or equivalent

- At least 18 years of age

- Minimum six months code, law enforcement, or security experience to include carrying out law(s) through investigations, interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence, writing citations and reports

- Valid Alaska driver’s license with clean driving record

- Ability to proficiently speak, read, understand and write English

- Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug test and physical/fuctional capacity exam
