A successful applicant must be a self-starter and driven professional who is skilled in decision making and goal setting and is able to contribute to the creation and execution of the annual recruitment plan that meets the university's enrollment goals.Duties:25Prioritize the fulfillment of student inquiries through leveraging people and technology resources such as the office’s powerful constituent relationship management tool. With direction of Executive Director work collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Communications to ensure development and effective use of established communication plans and recruitment publications/materials that maintain a cutting edge and fresh look for the campus that align with University Advancement's branding efforts. Facilitate welcome and access to the institution by providing timely and accurate information and appropriate referrals. Serve as a primary point of contact for entering students and families by providing comprehensive contact information and general descriptions for many programs and services of the institution. Meet the introductory informational needs of the campus community: students, faculty members, staff, prospective students and their family members, alumni, and general visitors.Essential25Provide leadership to a team of recruitment staff and admissions counselors. Participate in the day-to-day management of Undergraduate Admissions’ engagement with prospective students through monitoring of timely inquiry fulfillment, customer service and management of daily office coverage responsibilities. Train staff on best practices and external regulations related to the field. Meet regularly with team to review plans for effective use of resources and data in determining overall strategies and practices. Set goals, expectations, priorities and measures of success; prioritize and distribute work assignments; provide training opportunities; track accountability of goals and outreach efforts, and complete annual written evaluations of performance for admission counselors. Forecast and monitor staff budgetary expenditures. Guide staff in execution of operational goals in a territory and student group management model and provide measures of accountability for targets. Plan and implement recruitment activities for an assigned territory or population, including programs and travel activities around Alaska and nationally. Provide leadership to admissions counselors to ensure all staff are frequently engaging with community organizations throughout Alaska, UAA departments, Alaska High Schools, and HS counselors to sustain effective recruitment relationships.Essential25Represent the University both on- and off-campus to a wide variety of constituents, including prospective students and their families, secondary and post-secondary school personnel, community-based organizations, and other individuals or organizations involved in the college selection process. Cultivate key relationships and partnerships with external constituents at high schools, professional organizations, academic affairs, colleges and departments, and within student service departments. Hosts regular onsite and online information sessions for Alaska and throughout designated territories. Under direction of Executive Director, collaborate with academic areas and others around campus to coordinate, design and support dynamic visit programs and campus events and assess programs and services for effectiveness. Coordinate key on-campus recruitment events including frequent campus tours, Preview Days, and other major events which are welcoming to students and their families and ensure effective collaboration with campus stakeholders. Work with Executive Director of Admissions to ensure events and tours fall within best practice and align with the mission of the department and university. Work to establish and maintain a robust student ambassador program to positively interact and engage with new students and visitors to the campus, including campus tours, high school visits, and telecounseling. Provide support to other areas of student affairs on an as needed basis.Essential25Under the direction of the Executive Director of Admissions create and execute a comprehensive outreach and recruitment strategy to build new student enrollment pipelines. Manage the strategy and logistics of recruitment and yield travel, utilizing creative and innovative approaches to maximize effectiveness of limited resources. Actively identify and cultivate untouched markets, institutions, and organizations to drive new inquiry and applicant traffic. Maintain thorough knowledge of trends in the field of recruitment and admissions, and provide information to constituents on the breadth and depth of opportunities available at UAA. Ensure positive and effective communications with the high school and community college advising/counseling community around the state of Alaska, and at key institutions out of state. Assess the effectiveness and impact of the departments primary functions, report annually on key findings, and use assessment data to drive program improvements towards Enrollment Service's shared vision. Track, report, and assess the effectiveness of all recruitment and outreach activities. Regularly report on performance metrics and progress towards recruitment and admission goals.EssentialKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:Knowledge of best practices in college student recruitment. Advanced oral and written communication skills. Advanced computer literacy. Demonstrated management and leadership ability and experience in motivating, supervising and evaluating the performance of direct reports. Ability to handle multiple demands on time in a calm and effective way.
