We are currently seeking a HHW Technician to join our growing team! Position Overview:Under supervision from HHW Facility Manager, collect hazardous waste from households and businesses. Sort, consolidate, and pack waste for disposal or shipping in accordance with state, federal, and company regulations and safety protocol.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Position performs labor-intensive activities such as drum collection, drum bulking, and loading trucks.
Properly identify, collect, sort, weigh, package, load in preparation for transportation and disposal in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Record data on material check-in forms.
Operate a forklift to unload drums and pallets of waste.
Respond to spills and releases of hazardous waste in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Must have a consistent and reliable work ethic by adhering to work schedules and utilizing time efficiently in order complete assigned tasks within defined deadlines.
Demonstrate behaviors consistent with a self-starter such as finding work to do between direct assignments, follow through with tasks, and take ownership and pride in work performed.
Must have the ability to effectively cooperate and communicate with co-workers and personnel in other departments.
Exhibit a high level of integrity, honesty and professionalism in all activities and situations.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
40-hour HAZWOPER Certificate
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Ability to identify safety hazards and apply health and safety procedures applicable to work assignments.
Able to read, legibly write, speak and understand English language.
Understand and follow multi-step written or oral instruction.
Forklift Operation Certificate, preferred
Class B CDL, preferred
Ability and willingness to travel and work extended hours as needed.
