Sous Chef at a Wilderness Lodge in Alaska - Join Chefs Kirsten and Mandy Dixon at Winterlake Lodge, an award-winning remote boutique adventure lodge located 1-hour northwest by small airplane from Anchorage, Alaska. Winterlake Lodge sits along the Iditarod Trail (and serves as the 4'th checkpoint) near the Alaska Range mountains. Winterlake Lodge is a proud member of the National Geographic Unique Lodges of the World. Our work is predominantly in the adventure travel arena. We serve 12-16 guests per day and about 15 employees with scratch cuisine using unique Alaska ingredients. We place four people into our kitchen, one chef de cuisine, two sous chefs, one pastry chef and one culinary intern. We have a large garden and greenhouse program, we forage for wild edibles each day, and we care deeply about our craft. We are looking for someone who is adventurous in spirit, who appreciates the natural world, who can be an inspiration within a small team, and is fairly advanced in the craft of cooking. We are a non-drug, non-smoking workplace. The 2019 Winterlake Lodge season is June 1 through September 30. We offer salary plus bonus, free room and board, transportation to Alaska.
