Under the supervision of the Security Captain and, if necessary, under the direction of a licensed medical professional or designated healthcare provider, the remote site Security/Tech Medic administers emergency medical treatment and performs a variety of security related functions in a remote camp on the North Slope of Alaska.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Able to proficiently speak, read, understand and write English
High school diploma or equivalent
State Certified – EMT III or MICP
Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification
Valid driver’s license
Possesses, or able to obtain, class B Commercial Driver License with passenger endorsement
Possesses, or able to obtain, State of Alaska Security Guard License
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Promote and maintain a safe working environment
Perform security related duties to include alarm monitoring, facility security, personnel movement coordination, and other tasks as assigned. Primary duties at this location are security related. Medical capabilities are required to provide support to the on-site medical clinic as needed or directed.
Support the client’s Medical Emergency Response Team (MERT)
Assist in operating ambulance and maintaining inventory of medical equipment on ambulance
Remove or assist in the removal of victims from the scene of an incident
Comprehend and utilize medical standing orders or directives
Comprehend and utilize DUS Post Orders and applicable guidelines
Verbally convey patient status report to other medical personnel

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
The employee will be required to live and work in a remote and confined workspace for extended periods of time and exposure to work assignments consisting of twelve-hour days and able to work day or night shifts as required. The majority of the work is performed in a remote setting with a wide variety of people in differing functions, personalities and abilities. There may be a lack of immediate access to critical medical services as well as urban community services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee’s work requires routine walking, standing, bending and carrying items. Applicant will be required to successfully complete a post-offer pre-hire physical and Functional Capacity Exam (also known as a fitness for duty test).
