We are looking for an outgoing, community oriented Alaskan to join our small team in the heart of downtown Palmer!

The media coordinator designs and distributes the Palmer Community Calendar, the Palmer Visitor Guide, and other museum promotional materials. In addition, the media coordinator assists in maintaining the museum website and social media platforms, staffs the front desk, and coordinates museum volunteers. This is a supervisory position that reports to the PMHA executive director.

This is a permanent, part time position at the Palmer Museum and Visitor Center.

Duties

— Develop content, sell advertisements, and generally promote the Palmer Visitor Guide.

— Distribute the visitor guide in person to valley locations and by mail to visitor center locations around the state.

— Meet ad sales goals and collect ad designs in timely and efficient manner.

— Design online and print community calendar and distribute print copies to downtown businesses.

— Design and distribute promotional materials for museum events.

— Update museum website and social media platforms to promote museum events and keep the organization visible in the community.

— Works at least 10 hours per week (or as needed) at the front desk, providing directions, information, and museum/gift shop assistance to visitors.

— Be available to regularly work at least one weekend day during the summer (May 1 to September 30).

— Lead tours of the Palmer Historic District.

— Recruit and supervise volunteer museum docents.

— Performs other museum related tasks as required by the executive director.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

— Graphic design experience using Canva, Microsoft Publisher, and Adobe Acrobat desired.

— Professional familiarity with Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.

— Strong verbal and written communication skills.

— Ability to sell advertisements and meet sales goals with a reasonable deadline.

— Knowledge of Greater Palmer Area business, visitor attractions, and geography.

— Ability to create professional, engaging social media advertisements.

— Be familiar with Palmer history, culture, and art scenes.

— Ability to impress visitors and provide prompt, accurate, and relevant information about Palmer

— Cash handling and reporting experience.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with graphic design.

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

Prior sales and media marketing experience desired.

Familiarity with Alaskan tourism market.

Compensation

Hours: 25/week, including summer weekend shifts (flexible weekday schedule)

Salary: $15.00/hour beginning rate

Benefits: Paid time off, Holiday pay
