Anchorage Park Foundation seeks a permanent, full-time Development Director to join our team and support efforts to fund and tell the stories of neighborhood parks and trails projects that improve our community. This position is ideal for a skilled storyteller with passion and creativity. An ideal candidate possesses excellent writing skills and 3-5 years of experience with nonprofits. This role works collaboratively with all members of the organization and requires an ability to manage multiple priorities. Reports to: Executive Director. Acts as part of a cohesive team to achieve APF mission and goals.

Salary: $50,000“$75,000

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES “ Include, but are not limited to the following:

Donor Management and Cultivation: Maintains accurate donor records, manages mailing lists, oversees receipting and solves tricky dilemmas. Identifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards mid-level and major donors.

Board of Directors: Manage board solicitations in consult with ED and Board Chair. Delivers Philanthropy Report at each board meeting.

Annual Fund: Creates annual strategies and directs the annual fund campaign. Coordinates development team including ED and Communications Manager.

Prospecting: Researches and qualifies individual and corporate donors. Develops strategies and equips ED, Board, and staff to engage in donor stewardship cycle. Manages donor research, tracking, and recognition.

Major Gifts: Maintains a personal portfolio of major giving, cultivating and asking for gifts of $500+. Supports ED, BoD and staff with their personal major gift portfolios.

Special Events: Oversees planning and execution of special fundraising or donor engagement events.

Restricted Project Campaigns: Consults with and assists challenge grantees and fiscal sponsees on their fundraising efforts.

Reporting: Monitor, evaluate and report on campaigns and gift performance. Ensures timely deliverables and accurate report deliveries to funders.

Budgeting: Works toward a diversified funding base to include corporate, foundation, government, special event, direct mail, and web-based fundraising strategies.

Grant Seeking: Collaborates with program and planning staff to identify and seek grant funding from a variety of sources, including federal, state, and private grantors. Ensures efforts are strategic and non-duplicated. Writes unrestricted grants.

Impactful Messaging: Works with leadership and communications teams to ensure high quality, clear, consistent, meaningful messages and voice in all materials and conversations that reflect core values and strategies. Develops fundraising marketing collateral in collaboration with communications team. Maintains relationships and ongoing communications with donors.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES “ an ideal candidate possesses:

3-5 years of non-profit experience preferred in nonprofit development/communications/event management

persuasive written communication skills

an ability to work independently and manage competing priorities

experience with Office365 Suite, Adobe Suite, donor database (we use C Suite), and fund accounting platforms

ability to lift 25 pounds

ability to work within a budget

valid drivers license and own transportation for work-related responsibilities

ability to demonstrate emotional intelligence

professionalism and a willingness to learn what isnt known

flexibility to attend seasonal off-hours events

a culturally responsive attitude and commitment to equity

a love of the outdoors
