Bicycle Mechanic (Anchorage)

Vacancy expired!

The Bicycle Shop in Anchorage, Alaska is looking for full-time and summer seasonal mechanics. Since 1964 The Bicycle Shop has served Alaskan cyclists and is the oldest and largest bicycle retailer and service center in Alaska. We’re also a lot of fun and love working hard with a dedicated seasonal and full-time staff. For several months of the year we get nearly 20 hours of daylight in Anchorage!

We are looking for several types of mechanics including those with experience working on all types of bicycles, but would also appreciate hearing from people who are proficient with suspension and hydraulic systems; mechanics with an appreciation for purely mechanical things such as older bicycles which continue to flood our service centers from many years of sales in this community; mechanics with a passion for servicing major e-bike brands especially including Specialized Turbo models; and mechanics with a passion for wheelbuilding. We are also open to hearing from less experienced mechanics who want to learn more and can work in a fast-paced environment. Our summer season is much like a fishing season in Alaska, and the demand for bicycles sales and service is focused around a 3 month peak season although we stay busy every day of the year with fatbikes, winter commuters, and off-season service.

Compensation depends on experience but starting pay for anyone with previous shop experience is $15/hr with ample opportunity to work overtime during peak season. If coming from out of state we can help you with the transition to Anchorage. There are tons of great mountain bike trails and paved routes in Anchorage, with the rest of Alaska at our doorstep. Summer seasonal and full-time positions available.

Please send a personalized letter and resume via email to Nicholas Carman at bikeshopak@gmail.com.
