We have immediate openings for a lead line and grade/pipe layer position. Excellent pay and benefits package available upon meeting eligibility requirements.

The line and grade/pipe layer is responsible for skilled work in the performance of all tasks related to the installation of water, storm and sewer mainline pipe, services and by-pass systems. These tasks require physical labor and, at a minimum, a working knowledge of the following: line and grade, laying ductile pipe, CPEP, CMP, PVC, HDPE, installing mechanical connections, constructing temporary water/sewer systems, testing lines, plan review and implementation, red-line drawings, fabrication work, laser guidance equipment, work around heavy construction equipment, trench excavations utilizing trench stabilizing equipment, and dewatering activities. Must be familiar with MOA MASS and DCPM. Minimum 3 years experience as lead pipe layer required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Read and interpret plans, instructions, and specifications to determine work activities.

Perform take-offs from plan design sheets, procure pipe, develop installation plan.

Set up dewatering systems (pumps, hoses, headers, etc.)

Set up utility by-pass/temporary water/sewer systems.

Direct operators on dig locations and line and grade.

Ensure pipe is on line and grade and installations are performed to manufacturers requirements and consistent with contract requirements “ most recent version of MASS.

Record all pipe information required by the contract in grade/field notebook.

Test installed piping systems.

Create red-line drawings for submission to client.

Lift and carry objects and materials of various weights up to 100 pounds.

Repetitive climbing, stooping, kneeling, bending, and reaching over head.

Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and compact and level earth to grade specifications, using picks, shovels, pneumatic tampers/compactors, and rakes.

Grind, scrape, sand, or polish surfaces such as concrete, metal, aluminum, or wood, using abrasive tools or machines.

Other duties as assigned.

Valid Alaska drivers license. Must be physically capable of heavy manual labor, sometimes under unfavorable to extreme weather conditions. Lifting required on a daily basis. Must pass pre-employment drug test and physical if required. EOE
