Mechanic will perform miscellaneous repairs and preventive maintenance on dry-van and reefer by performing the following duties. Trailer Mechanic will use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, flame torches, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as grinders, cut-off saw, band saw, pneumatic wrenches, jacks, hoists, welding equipment, and fork lift when necessary to perform maintenance and repair on trailers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Read job orders, technical service bulletins to determine malfunction, and plan work procedures using technical manuals, and experience. Importance will be placed on troubleshooting the problem with accuracy in order to avoid returns. Perform complete diagnostic, and post-repair inspections on dry-van and reefer trailers, and notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment, and corrective action taken. Perform regular servicing and maintenance of equipment, maintaining related service records.

Perform DOT Inspections.

Replace or repair parts when necessary. Inspect, adjust, and repair air brakes.

Comply with all established industry safety norms and other quality measures while conducting work processes.

Document repairs and parts on work orders completely and accurately.

Weld/fabricator as needed.

Be available to perform emergency roadside services, as needed.

Work with a high degree of integrity and promote a positive image for the company.

Maintain tools and work place so that shop conditions are neat and orderly.

Other duties may be assigned.

Prefer you to have your own tools.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

Repair trucks and trailers and related equipment in a timely and efficient manner.

Diagnose and repair problems related to hydraulic components, steering systems, engines, transmissions, drive train, and braking systems of equipment.

Must be willing to work overtime if needed.

Requirements:

Experience on heavy trucks, trailers, medium duty vehicles, etc. (diagnostic testing, hydraulics, brakes, diesel engine, etc.)

Experience with Reefer units a plus

Valid Class A license and current medical card - required or willing to obtain

Physically able to push, pull, lift, stand and kneel

Must be dependable and able to work under pressure

Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Requirements / Qualifications:

1 year refrigeration experience preferred

Experience in trailer PMs and repairs

Must be able to push, pull, kneel, bend, squat and lift 100 pounds

Must own your own tools

Section 608 Technician Certification preferred
