LEGAL ASSISTANT (FAIRBANKS, ALASKA)

Vacancy expired!

Franich Law Office is recruiting for a friendly and dependable legal assistant for our small, but busy, law firm.

We need someone with excellent customer service skills and professional phone etiquette who is committed to upholding the confidentiality of all information learned by virtue of this position.

Effective communication with clients is a major responsibility. Much of the day is spent communicating with clients who may often be anxious, upset or distressed. This position is the front line of communication between our clients and our attorneys.

Aside from general receptionist skills, duties are similar to those of most administrative jobs, including calendar scheduling, document management, preparation and service of routine pleadings, light bookkeeping, as well as some discovery and litigation support. Attention to detail is imperative, and is critical to all aspects of this position, from simple document management within our firm, to performing conflict checks when scheduling appointments for potential new clients.

Experience with Apple computers preferred, and proficiency with all Microsoft Office programs is a must, along with other standard office skills. Experience in the legal field is not necessary, but is preferred.

After a one-year probationary period, the successful candidate may transition to a paralegal role within our firm, if the candidates knowledge, motivation and ability to work independently, prove up to the task.

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. including a one-hour lunch break. We are a family-friendly firm and accommodate reasonable schedule modifications, as flexibility in scheduling is sometimes necessary due to life in general.

The wage offered for this position will depend on the skills, experience, and aptitude of the successful applicant. Wages will be reviewed after a 90-day probationary period and annually thereafter. Benefits include paid holidays (all Federal holidays and most State holidays) along with paid leave. Paid leave does not accrue during the first six months, but begins to accrue thereafter, and may be used after one full year of employment. However, we do not currently offer other benefits.

If interested, please send your resume, including at least two work references and a description of your interests, including things you would like to learn, compensation requirements, career goals, etc. to info@franich.net, with Attn: Legal Assistant in the subject line.
