Front End Team: Front End Team Lead
Reports to: General Manager
Position Summary
The Front End Team Lead oversees and is responsible for the regular functions of the Front End department. This position is responsible for providing prompt, friendly, courteous customer service and ensuring accurate cash handling and store security, while meeting department goals for labor expense and cash accountability. The Front End Team Leader is responsible for the training, coaching and accountability of the Front End team.
Customer Service
Maintains a pleasant, helpful relationship with customers and co-workers
Provides prompt, friendly customer service
Encourages and answers all customer suggestions, requests and complaints pertaining to the Front End department
Supervision
Ensures cashier trainings meet demand and are effective for producing quality cashiers
Guarantees efficient department scheduling and adequate staffing within labor budget
Coaches, evaluates, sets development goals, mentors and addresses performance issues for department staff to ensure accountability and proper handling of all transactions by cashiers and leads
General Management
Trains staff in security procedures, (e.g. dealing with shoplifters, disorderly customers, robberies, etc.)
Ensures department equipment is kept in working order; coordinates the maintenance, upgrade and repair needs with General Manager
Develops and refines cashiering policies and procedures in order to increase efficiency and meet changing business needs
Seeks to reduce risk and liability inherent in money systems
Guarantees availability of up-to-date policies and procedures for department staff and management responsibilities
Participates in development of operating and capital budgets for store
Assists with quarterly inventory
Performs other tasks assigned by general manager
Facilitates team building and identifies ways to improve or maintain team morale
Ensures accuracy and security of all cash received through front end by upholding money-handling procedures, checking cashier deposit paperwork and giving feedback to cashiers on overages/shorts
Learns to troubleshoot POS system and ensures prompt correction of pricing and scanning problems
Qualifications
Supervisory experience: hiring, training, evaluating and giving directions
Dedication to ensuring the customer has the best possible experience
Experience developing systems and procedures
Organized, meticulous attention to detail
Above average math and budgeting skills
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel)
Familiarity with POS systems
Communication skills – gives clear directions, listens well
Ability to project a friendly, outgoing personality
Ability to lift 50 + pounds
Ability to stand for long periods
Regular, predictable attendance
Capable of working independently and motivating self and others
Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm, effective manner
Excellent cashier and money handling skills
Willingness and ability to learn and grow to meet changing requirements of the job
Other Responsibilities
Attends and participates as appropriate in staff meetings and other meetings as necessary
Answers and routes phone calls, takes and routes messages as needed
Performs other tasks conveyed by the General Manager
Works on the floor as needed
