Job Description

VBM Alaska is seeking an energetic and highly motivated candidate for the position of I.T Support Specialist to support the needs of our Managed IT Services Clients. Responsibilities Include:

• Providing technical support and customer service via email, remote, phone, and on-site

• Working with other members of the IT organization to ensure timely resolution of end-user issues.

• Troubleshoot and resolve software and hardware problems on behalf of end users

• Provides basic desktop and Windows problem solving for local and remote users

• Performs new hardware installation and upgrades

• Builds, re-configures, maintains, and repairs Windows systems (desktops and laptops) for employee use

• Performs moves/adds/changes to equipment (computer hardware, cables)

• Performs applications installation, re-installation, configuration and upgrades.

Successful candidates should possess the following qualifications/experience:

• 1+ years of experience supporting desktop hardware and software in Windows environment

• Experience supporting Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook in an Exchange environment

• Understanding of Windows server/network administration

• Excellent Communication skills, both verbally and in writing

• Understanding of Active Directory and Group Policy Object (GPO) management

• Experience dealing with vendor support to deal with software, firmware, and hardware issues

• Understanding of VOIP-enabled phones and network environments

• Experience supporting mobile devices, including Android and iPhone

• Ability to follow through in a timely manner with clients, prioritizing critical issues

• Attention to detail

• Be able to consistently represent VBM Alaska in a professional and respectful manner

• Have obtained or be able to attain A+/Net+, MCITP certification(s) or similar certifications

• Solid understanding of networking in a corporate environment

• Strong ability to troubleshoot issues, limit variables and determine the source

• Ability to multi-task in a fast moving environment

• Ability to work individually or as part of a team
