Alaska Mountain Guides is hiring for an Accountant Assistant position starting in the spring of 2019.
Expected number of hours - 40-45 hrs/week - 5 days per week
Year round position
Hourly Rate: $14-$18/hr DOE
Starting spring of 2019
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Team player, able to work independently, multi task, fast learner, handle conflicting deadlines, remain calm, professional and stay focused. Excellent communicator (written and verbal).
Bachelor's degree plus 1 year of applicable experience, or combination of education and relevant work experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
Intermediate proficiency in business applications, such as Microsoft Office; intermediate Excel skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with accounting systems and the internet; computer literacy.
Understanding of and ability to apply accounting skills and concepts.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Demonstrated communication skills, including the ability to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal audiences and client groups.
Demonstrated project management skills and ability to contribute as part of a project team.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
Frequently sit, sort, file paperwork or parts, grasp lightly, and use fine manipulation, lift, carry, push and pull objects that weigh 10 pounds or less.
Occasionally write by hand, twist, bend, stoop and squat.
Rarely stand, walk, reach or work above shoulders and use a telephone.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
May work extended hours during peak business cycles, deadlines.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Reporting:
Reports to Accounting Manager (for Accounting/Bookkeeping functions).
Work closely with Owners for furthering company operational goals.
Work closely with Operations Manager/Client Care manager for sales efforts and administration specific responsibilities
Work closely with Accounting Manager for accounting functions.
Accounting Functions
Support Accounting Department as necessary
Record all business transactions and retain all accounting records for all companies
Support processing functions such as:
o Processing credit card sales
o Accounts receivable & collection notices
o Bill payments
o Receipt processing and QuickBooks entries
Verify and post accounts receivable transactions to general ledger and other records, following established procedures for processing receipts and cash, and prepare bank deposits
Support processing of payroll
o Process time sheets, compute and process wage and salary payments and related withholdings, and manage the preparation, delivery, and reporting of payroll processes
Reconcile Credit Card statements to accurately allocate expenses by Class and Company
Intercompany service agreements
Cruise company receivables tracking and invoicing
Other accounting functions as needed
Sales/Client Care Functions
Support sales efforts - Answer phone calls and emails from guests looking to book trips. Facilitate booking/sales
Support Sales, Administrative, and Operations departments with daily responsibilities
o Coordinate with appropriate manager for specific functions
Support Client Care efforts such as pre-trip emails, post-trip follow ups, Welcome Letters, and paperwork collection - secondary to accounting functions.
Phone reception - help support phone reception
Other office support functions as needed
