Juneau Cooperative Preschool is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic individual who loves young children to join the staff of our play-based, cooperative preschool for the remainder of the 2018-2019 school year. The position is 35 hrs/week, from mid-February 2019- May 2019 following the school calendar year and includes paid breaks and holidays. A successful applicant will be considered as a permanent addition to our staff for the following school year.
The ideal candidate will have a background in Early Childhood Education, (preferably 12 semester hours of college credit in early childhood development/related field, or equivalent, such as a current CDA credential, OR intention to obtain these qualifications), and strong organizational skills to take on administrative duties of the preschool.
Our program serves children ages 3-5, offering part time morning classes and smaller group afternoon care. This position has a diverse range of duties which will include dedicated administrative hours, as well as co-teaching in a large group and solo teaching a small group. Hours will be approximately 8:30-3:30 M-F, with some potential for flexibility. Additional hours outside the classroom schedule are necessary for curriculum planning and preparation, continuing education training, board and staff meetings, etc.
Pay starting at $17+ an hour depending on experience. Other benefits include a tuition discount if teacher's child is enrolled at preschool and 5 days paid leave/year.
