POSITION SUMMARY:
Family Promise is a community response to families experiencing homelessness by providing hospitality in area congregations. Guests receive hospitality and meals from volunteers. The van driver drives the Family Promise van from Chapel by the Lake to the host congregation where they will pick up guests and return to Chapel by the Lake. The driver will then provide day center coverage.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
⢠Arrive at the host congregation before 6:30 am and transport guests to day center (8:00 on weekends)
⢠Ensure guests depart host congregation in timely manner to relieve volunteers
⢠Open day center and provide morning day center coverage until other staff arrives or day center closes.
⢠Be available to answer practical questions from guests and convey messages when other staff arrives.
⢠Be a positive representative of Family Promise to host congregations.
⢠Represent and interpret the mission and work of the agency to the community.
⢠Be aware and cognizant of possible issues as they arise and use sound judgement to deal with them and communicate them.
⢠Additional availability and responsibility when Executive Director is out of town
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
⢠A valid driverâs license and no infraction or accidents within the prior three years.
⢠Pass Background and Sex Offender Check
⢠A passion for the mission of Family Promise.
⢠Ability to communicate and respect people from a variety of social, economic and ethnic backgrounds
⢠Ability to establish appropriate boundaries
⢠Working cell phone
10-20 hours/week
