Job Summary:

The Logistics Administrator position supports the Niblack Mine on the Prince of Wales Island for POWTEC, LLC.

The Logistics Administrator is responsible for all day-to-day aspects of site logistics for exploratory mine in SE Alaska. This position includes coordination of all site services, i.e. purchasing, scheduling of travel, employee management and monitoring of all safety and sanitation regulations. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, keen computer skills and “no task too big or small” attitude. Ability to communicate with a wide variety of individuals with diverse backgrounds; employees, vendors, managers and investors, is critical to this position.

-The position is seasonal working 12-hour shifts, Monday-Sunday, 84 hours weekly and scheduled approximately 3-8 weeks on and typically 3 weeks off.

-The position is seasonal starting approximately in August for approximately 8 weeks with the possibility to extend further.

-Transportation to and from site is provided.

-Room and board provided on a barge at the work site during the time-on period.

-This is position requires successfully passing both a background and drug screening to qualify and will be subject to any post-accident and/or reasonable suspicion testing throughout employment.

-Must have active driver’s license.

-Must be US Citizen.

Essential Duties and Tasks:

-Responsible for the facilities day-to day operations

-Maintain staff schedules

-Arrange all flights / hotels for all incoming and outgoing staff

-Manage effective telephone and mail communications both internally and externally while consistently presenting a professional image

-Perform all purchasing for camp operations

-Maintain vendor relationships

-Negotiate the purchases of office supplies, furniture, and office equipment in accordance with company purchasing policies and budgetary restrictions

-Update purchasing data base entering purchase orders, delivery, and invoice data

-Verify shipments against purchase orders and examine upon arrival

-Develop and implement shipping and receiving procedures

-Prepare items for shipment to customers and/or return to supplier

-Receive all material, machinery, chemicals, and supplies

-Maintain record keeping systems and mark material with part numbers, date, lot codes, and revisions

-Supervise the maintenance of office equipment, e.g. copier and fax machine

-Participate as needed in special department projects

-Perform flow meter tests including water sampling

-Perform routine site surveys

-Review and update Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP)

-Test Self Rescue Breathing Apparatus (SRBA) and fire extinguishers

-Maintain weather data chart

-Schedule fuel and supply barges

-Break ice for airplanes as required

-Maintain satellite phone communication system

-Liaison between POWTEC employees and POWTEC Corporate

-Liaison between POWTEC employees and Customer

-Employee relations e.g. pre-hire / new hire processes, benefits, time management, and injuries

-Perform other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

-2 years of office management in a similar setting

-Strong written and verbal skills

-Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills

-Detailed oriented

-Good planning and organizational skills

-Ability to manage staff

-Ability to negotiate effectively

-Knowledge of computers, scanners, and fax machines

-Proven experience with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Access

-Working knowledge of mail process such as postage machine, UPS, and Federal Express

-Must be comfortable with operating small water crafts

-Professional Demeanor

Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s Degree, preferred

-Valid Driver’s License, required and insurable to operate company owned vehicles

-MSHA Certified, preferred

-Able to pass Alaska Safe Boaters Exam

-Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen, and will be subject to any post-accident and/or reasonable suspicion testing throughout employment

-While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear

-Assignments require frequent repetitive motion

-Performance of duties occasionally involves exposure to hazardous materials

Work conditions:

-Must be comfortable flying onto the island and back as this is the sole method of transportation to the job site

-Must be able to live communally where food and lodging are provided at no cost to the employee

-The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud

-Working conditions may include continuous exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes or airborne pathogens and at greater risk of getting a minor injury such as a cut or burn while performing the duties of this position

-Work location is in a remote area with limited communication with the outside world where internet and cell phone communications are often limited

-Above ground surfaces may be icy, slippery, uneven, rocky, muddy and/or wet

-Various duties may be performed underground; underground work areas have limited lighting and wet, slippery surfaces

-The employee occasionally will be working in temperatures below 0° degrees during winter months

-Dry facility – no alcohol is permitted on the island

-No firearms are permitted on the island
