The Position:

The Maintenance Supervisor’s primary role is to oversee and assist with the efficient and routine maintenance and repair of Alaskan Brewing’s facilities and equipment. This is a working supervisor position.

Investigates, schedules, & coordinates repair and maintenance of plant facilities and vehicles, or packaging and process equipment

Develop, maintain, and follow a preventative maintenance program.

Know the brewery operations fully from an operators' perspective and skill to help prevent/diagnose potential problems or stop efficiency losses and waste.

Works closely with Plant Manager, maintenance staff, engineering, other brewery departments, and contractors for repairs, maintenance, or installations.

Identify, suggest, and discuss solutions to equipment and facility issues with management.

Restock and order parts and supplies for proper and prompt repairs.

May assist with planning and layout of work relating to repairs.

May perform higher level electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and hydraulic system repairs to facility and process equipment, including HVAC and refrigeration.

Maintain accurate maintenance logs.

Assist in other areas of plant operations as required or assigned to meet production needs.

Participates with the Plant Manager in making decisions on employee hiring, termination, advancement, promotion, or any other change of status for maintenance staff. Responsible for preparing and performing performance evaluations with employees.

Responsible for communication and morale within the department. Lead regular department meetings to include general brewery information, safety concerns, or department issues.

Understand sanitation measures based on food quality standards when working on appropriate equipment or facility locations.

Works with the Plant Manager to plan a department budget, and work within that budget through the year.

Regular communication, interactions, and planning with the other maintenance department as needed.

Reporting to the Director of Plant & Industry, this person is a key member of the production team, working with Maintenance Technicians to provide the highest quality of internal support to ensure that the physical work environment is safe, comfortable, and professional. Knowledge and skills needed to be successful in this position include:

Advanced skills in several areas which may include carpentry, plumbing, mechanical, electrical systems, HVAC, PLC’s, and welding.

Must have 5+ years of industrial or mechanical maintenance experience

Completion of MBAA Packaging or Plant Maintenance Course or other relevant work experience desired dependent on maintenance department position

Ability to read and interpret manuals, schematics, and blue prints.

Strong mechanical repair background and skill.

Computer knowledge required, experience with MS Excel and MS Word.

Good mathematical skills.

Ability to maintain both manual & computerized paperwork & data entry logs.

Ability to troubleshoot and work with other departments in an expedient manner to lessen down time.

Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Supervisory experience or training.

Maintain and enforce Alaskan Brewing safety policies that pertain to maintenance functions such as Lock out/Tag out, Confined Space, Boiler technician training programs, chemical safety, etc.

Maintain a positive work attitude and develop strong relationships with all employees and contractors.
