Nikiski Cooperative Preschool is seeking an energetic, motivated individual to join our preschool as a part time Preschool Teacher. We are a parent-owned, play based preschool located just 5 minutes north of Kenai. We are dedicated to providing a child-centered, play based curriculum with a focus on the social and emotional growth of children ages 2-5. Responsibilities:
Create activities and environments that fulfill the philosophy of a play based, child-centered curriculum
Collaborate with administrator to ensure that the school fosters an environment that is inviting and nurturing for every child and is fulfilling their individual needs.
Employ a variety of educational techniques (storytelling, dramatic play, loose parts etc.) to teach children the skills needed to be successful in life
Develop and maintain a constructive and ongoing rapport with children and parents
Encourage and teach children to interact with each other to resolve conflicts
Maintain a clean and tidy classroom consistent with health and safety standards
Qualifications:
At least 12 credits of Early Childhood Education or currently enrolled in a program.
First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification
Experience working with children in a classroom setting
Strong knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate practices.
Caring and nurturing attitude towards children
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent organizational and teamwork skills
Ability to act as mediator between children
Cool-tempered, friendly and reliable
Balance between a creative mind and a practical acumen
This position is a part-time (8:30 -12:00) position five days per week. Our preschool operates from September to Mid-May and observes the same holidays as the public schools. We are offering a generous salary of $1400.00 monthly.
