Job Description
High-Frequency Design Automation Engineer (CAD)
This position is within the Microchip USB & Networking Group (UNG) design team, located in Chandler, Arizona. UNG specializes in high-frequency, serial I/O. We are looking for a strategic and tactical design flow specialist that develops and helps maintain custom design flows for high-frequency, mixed-signal design.
  • Work with design team on strategic Design Automation (DA) flow definition, development & implementation.
  • Support and debug front end through back end tools/flows in the UNG design environment within the Corporate CAD infrastructure. This includes Cadence Analog/Mixed Signal simulation and layout environments, physical verification (DRC/LVS), parasitic extraction with an emphasis on accuracy for high frequency designs and electromigration analysis.
  • Maintain and develop, as needed, SKILL and Python scripts used to support OA databases and simplify/automate back end flows.
  • Interface with analog design team, Corporate CAD engineering and IT departments.
Job Requirements
  • BSEE (MSEE preferred) and 8+ years of CAD/Design flow experience.
  • Expertise with Cadence Analog and Mixed-signal IC design tools including ADE Explorer/Assembler, AMS, EAD.
  • Strong knowledge of physical verification/extraction and electromigration analysis flows. (Experience with Calibre and Ansys Totem is a plus.)
  • Some knowledge of Cadence Layout XL is helpful.
  • Detail oriented with strong tool debugging skills.
  • Experience with scripting languages (i.e. SKILL, TCL, PERL, Python).
  • A team player with excellent organizational, verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and work on multiple tools, projects and technologies.
