Job Description:

Operations Manager

We are a technology leader and a material specialist serving the semiconductor and other industries. With several international locations, we have products ranging from semi-finished goods to complex system components and custom-tailored solutions.

Our Phoenix area site is developing and producing novel components for the semiconductor industry serving the leading OEMs in the field. The site is rapidly transforming from a R&D site for high-end products to a state-of-the art production site adding constantly capacity.

The Operations Manager oversees and continuously improves the operational excellence at our Phoenix site, supervising and directing the technical personnel responsible for every stage of production to ensure manufacture of high quality and cost-effective product.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following (other duties may be assigned as required):
  • Entrepreneurial leadership for site operations to quickly & sustainably ramp-up production capacity to fulfil the accelerating demand while balancing speed, quality, and cost.
  • Developing a world-class organization in Operations aiming for excellence using the our unique Production System and builds future-fit capabilities for the site
  • Contributing strongly to the development of the site strategy driving transformation
  • Developing operational goals and indicators based on this strategy including the lead KPIs and using them to manage site operations
  • Responsibility for operations budget planning
  • Coordinating cooperation among all involved throughout the supply chain (supplier to customer) to ensure that operations flow smoothly also across other company divisions and functions like Sales and R&D
  • Maintaining a regular dialog with the global leadership team, site managers, supervisors, and employees on the shop floor
  • Responsibility for long-term workforce planning and people development based on the operations strategy using the principles of our Leadership Model
  • Deputy to the Site Leader/President for North America as a member of the site leadership team.

Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Adheres to the Code of Conduct Policy as relates for position.
  • Responsibility to ensure that direct reports and overall employee population are also aware and adhere to Code of Conduct Guidelines.
  • Operate in accordance and in full compliance with all applicable Business Excellence programs and ISO standards and procedures.
  • Coordinate with Human Resources to ensure the execution of an effective need-based training program for all department personnel.
  • Participate in the conduct of annual ISO and internal audits, as required.
  • Conduct and/or participate-in special projects, as required.
  • Additional assignments as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company's policies and applicable laws.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include the selection, training and development, assigning work, and performance management of employees.
  • Responsible for managing time and attendance, expense review and approval, compliance assurance and purchasing authorization for direct reports via multiple online tools.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability and/or travel availability required.
  • Strong business acumen with a holistic view on markets, customers, and the value chain
  • Experience in manufacturing and commercializing of complex technical products preferably in the semiconductor industry
  • Well-developed understanding of production processes preferably in ceramic engineering
  • Strong track record in leading operations
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience in a variety of methodologies like Lean Innovation and Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, KATA coaching, and Agile Project Management.
  • Sound knowledge of EHS within manufacturing environments.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Materials Science, Engineering or similar from an accredited college/university.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years related operations experience.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and government officials. Ability to effectively communicate (orally and in writing) with all levels within the organization. Excellent interpersonal skills required.

Mathematical Skills

Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, statistics, and their applications. The ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem.

Computer Skills

Advanced computer proficiency, MS office programs, data organization and interpretation, ERP/MRP

experience. Strong understanding of P/L and balance sheet statements as related to operations Lean

manufacturing experience required.

SAP experience highly desired.

Leadership

Distinguished through consistent display of leadership by example. Ability to anticipate and practice participative management style. Ability to maintain respect with fellow coworkers while making decisions that
