Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Plans Examiner II – Building/Fire. The Plans Examiner II reports to the Plan Review Supervisor. The primary function of this position is to conduct reviews and analyses of residential, commercial, and industrial land development projects, as well as assist in projects from permit application to final inspection. This position conducts plan reviews, makes field visits, and reviews applications and related documents to ensure compliance with applicable codes, specifications, and ordinances while providing information and technical assistance to internal and external customers. This position is currently on a 4/10 work schedule. Offices are closed on Fridays. This position has the potential to work remotely although some office and site visits will be required. The first review of applications will take place on Monday, October 7, 2024, Then every other Monday thereafter through the posting close date with a final review on Monday, December 16, 2024.About YouAt Team Gilbert, we hire innovative, forward-thinking problem-solvers who love what they do! High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).

At least one year of specialized or technical training beyond high school in a related field, such as building construction, engineering, environmental, architecture, blueprint reading, electrical, mechanical, and/or plumbing.

3-4 years working experience within a building and planning environment.

Fire Plan Review experience preferred.

Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job classification.

Two (2) ICC certifications, one of which must be from the Building or Fire Plans Examiner category. The second may be from the residential or commercial, plan review, or inspection category.

Valid Driver's License.

Pay range for a Plans Examiner II is $30.32-$45.48. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations, and ordinances.

Knowledge of landscape and irrigation design principles, planning and zoning principles, construction terminology, and spatial and mathematical concepts.

Skill in computer-aided and/or pencil-drafted construction drawing, reading, and interpreting written materials and technical drawings, reviewing construction drawings for quality and content, and conducting site inspections.

Reviewing and analyzing planning documents.

Preparing and presenting reports, correspondence, maps, studies and related items;

Conducting site inspections.

Excellent communication skills for corresponding with internal and external customers.
