Kforce has a client in search of a Lead Hardware Design Engineer in Phoenix, Arizona (AZ).Summary:The Senior Electronic Design Engineer is responsible for designing and developing electronic components and products through the New Product Introduction phases of Concept, Feasibility, Development, Pre-production and Production. The products to be developed are a variety of electro-mechanical devices utilizing embedded control systems as well as algorithms/drivers developed in -C- language to provide peripheral functionality. This role requires full proficiency with the design and analysis of circuits (including mathematical analysis), firmware and software. The candidate designs will be created and refined through sketches, CAD and prototype fabrication based on direction provided by Management and/or design reviews.Duties:Design and develop new embedded control systems, encompassing:
Low power consumption
Flash memory
External data bus architecture
Universal Serial Bus (USB)
Standard RS232, SPI and I2C
Assorted communications (Minimum Shift Key/Fast Shift Key (MSK/FSK), digital tone multiple frequency (DTMF), infrared, IrDA, Wi-Fi, RFID, stepper drivers
Thorough understanding of Transmission Control protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) at firmware level
Implement Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) and Inter-IC (I2C) serial control at firmware driver level -C-
Implement analog circuit design with op-amps and comparators
Design Printed Circuit Board layouts (low noise, multilevel)
Conduct general circuit analysis at the mathematical level
Provide drivers (e.g. C/C ) for firmware applications
Bachelor of Science or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
10-15 years of professional engineering experience; Must have recent hands on design experience
Experience as a technical lead is highly desired
Knowledge of all primary electronic engineering design principles
Knowledge of related manufacturing and assembly processes
Knowledge of improvements and upgrades available for commercial electro-mechanical devices
Solid understanding of embedded control systems
Knowledge of assorted communications (MSK/FFSK, DTMF, IrDA, stepper drivers)
Design experience with Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) is preferred
Skills in analog/digital circuit design and analysis
Battery powered design is a plus
Power Supply Design is a plus
Knowledge of Printed Circuit Board layout for low noise applications for multilevel PCB's
Skilled in firmware development using -C- compilers is a plus but not required
Capable of building prototypes for proof-of-concept of design ideas
Knowledge of project management techniques
Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Ability to prepare and verify detailed calculations and specifications
Ability to work in a team environment
