Grand Canyon Education is currently seeking a Senior IT Manager for Networking & Telecommunications to support the data and voice services of GCE’s enterprise and distributed partner networks. The Senior Manager is a seasoned professional providing leadership, technical expertise, and oversight within the IT department. The successful candidate has a flexible mindset and can adapt quickly to changes and challenges. They are always observing and learning how to better understand and serve external and internal customers. Working closely with decision makers, they help identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions. They are an exceptional steward of time, people, and resources. In our flexible hybrid working environment, time is split between working from home/remotely and being readily on-site as needed or requested for work and team engagement.
A Day in the Life of a Networking and Telecommunications Senior Manager might include:
Meeting with partner customers to discuss new capital projects and technical requirements.
Mentoring and coaching veteran and junior team members in process, procedure, and professional growth.
Gathering budget information and developing recommendations for lifecycle management, new builds, or updates.
Meeting with third parties to design integrations for services, software, or hardware.
Working with project managers to align timelines, deliverables, and relevant communications about projects.
Presenting architectural designs to subordinates, colleagues, or executive leaders using Zoom, PowerPoint, Visio, whiteboarding and other media.
Responsibilities:
Leads the Network and Voice teams responsible for LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi/Voice in support of daily operations.
Leads, initiates, and facilitates business process improvements and transformation which include executive dashboards, resource tracking, and analytics to facilitate data-driven decision making.
Works with Director on budgeting, funding models, strategy, and policy.
Oversees project planning and execution, manages requirements, deliverables, timelines, and budgets.
Participate in 24/7/365 on-call escalation
Build and maintain effective working relationships and act with diplomacy and discretion when dealing with sensitive and confidential issues
Provide a positive example to students and staff by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related discipline; proven equivalent industry experience may be substituted for degree
Demonstrated experience in the management of multi-disciplinary teams in a service delivery environment preferred
Prefer experience in a University or comparably complex environment.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, including advanced skills in Excel & Visio; Power BI; Project Management tools
Experience with laws, regulations, and best practices relevant to the position preferred, including but not limited to PCI Compliance, HIPAA, FERPA, and data security.
Well-developed oral and written communication skills
