Local sign company / large format print shop is seeking a graphic designer / printer operator. Candidate is responsible for creating vehicle wraps and graphics, vinyl and/or full color graphics output that can be weeded, cut and applied or printed and mounted to a substrate by a sign maker. Applicant must be proficient in vehicle wraps and graphics.

This position involves various levels of creativity and will ultimately lead to the complete design or modified design from customer drawings, files, or exact output of customer-provided design for output to vinyl. The ideal Graphic Designer candidate will have vehicle wrap experience and sign-making experience; sufficient education/experience/technical skills to perform all aspects of the job; and will be able to pass all assessments/inventories administered during the hiring process. A representative list of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position is as follows:

- Prioritize each day to efficiently and cost-effectively schedule the workflow.

- Determine the best output method based on the customer's need.

- Read and interpret a Work Order to lay out, design and produce signs & graphics according to written instructions.

- Work with customers, as necessary, with file transfers, FTP access, photo library options, online proofs, etc.

- Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, selects style and size of type, and arranges layout based upon available space, aesthetic design, and production requirements.

- Prepare comprehensive illustrations, sketches, layouts, and copy for print reproduction according to instructions of client or supervisor.

- Allocate appropriate amount of time to jobs based on the value of each job; track computer production rate per hour.

- Inspect jobs for accuracy before sending them to the plotter or printer.

- Run various printers for creation of various work orders.

- Cut vinyl so it can be easily weeded; cut re-cuts as necessary.

- Logo maintenance and sourcing: scanning, editing, using support. logo banks, etc.; convert graphic files.

- Image Sourcing: locate photos, understand copyright laws and release/usage requirements, knowledge of resources to buy stock images, work with service bureaus to create output beyond store capability, and understand resolution options and optimal enlargement specifications from image vendors and image originals.

- Provide proofs as necessary for customer and prospect approval.

- Perform daily/weekly computer back-ups; archive files as necessary.

- Physically maintain all equipment including computers, plotters and printers (UV printers, thermal transfer printers, eco-solvent ink printers, etc.).

- Maintain accurate electronic and paper record of File Storage and Disks.

- Minimize waste by efficiently using ink, media, laminates, foils and vinyl; notify manager/owner of low inventory.

- Communicate with other employees and customers: Sales/Service members on job requirements, timing, and special needs; Sign Maker(s) on job input and output; Production Manager/Store Manager on inventory needs for computer supplies; Customers and outside vendors on file conversion needs and saving files to disks.

- Assist Sign Maker(s) in production when time allows. Assist CSR as needed.

- Increase knowledge of computer graphic design through reading trade publications and independent study.

- Keep the area neat, clean and organized.
