Maximum Fire Protection is one of the leaders for commercial and residential fire protection installation for new construction. We are looking for a Design Engineer to join our office team. This individual will design and coordinate the fire sprinkler systems for commercial, industrial, tenant improvement and residential buildings with close coordination with the department supervisor, superintendent, estimating and project management. Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook. Must have a positive attitude and willingness to help with any project. Ideal candidate will have design experience and be looking for a long-term position, be reliable and have all the experience listed below.
JOB DISCRIPTION:
Design complex fire sprinkler systems.
Produce hydraulic calculations and system sizing for projects.
Collaborate with departments such as estimating, project management, fab shop and management to ensure water-based fire sprinkler system designs meet customer needs.
Coordinate with engineers and contractors.
Ensure design adheres to state and local standards for the design of water-based fire sprinkler systems.
Use CAD in the design of fire protection systems.
Conduct construction site review/survey on buildings if needed.
Submit plans to General Contractors/Owners and follow specifications.
Finalize fabrication techniques with the appropriate stakeholders.
Complete final shop drawings showing all pertinent information.
Generate materials list for completed designs.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
NICET III certification and/or 5 years’ experience in fire sprinkler design.
Comprehensive knowledge of NFPA standards 13, 13R, 13D, 14, 20, 22 and 25.
Working knowledge of one or more of the following CAD software platforms: AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, Autodesk BIM 360 and AutoSprink.
Ability to complete BIM Coordination.
Apply mathematical concepts, such as geometry, fractions and measuring.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, codes, standards, specifications, safety rules and operating and maintenance instructions.
Analytical and critical thinking skills.
Ability to communicate effectively in person and electronically.
Time management and organizational skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office.
Must pass a post-offer drug test and background check.
