Yavapai CASA for Kids Foundation is a Quad-Cities Area nonprofit that provides funding grants for foster families to cover unmet needs of their foster children (such as braces, glasses, lessons, clothing, and the like).

The Program/Career Development Specialist is a part-time position and will oversee the coordination and administration of all aspects of the program including planning, organizing, leading, and controlling program activities. This staff member will facilitate in depth career exploration and planning process with youth and connect them to education and/or training and community resources required to eliminate barriers and secure living wage employment. The success of the PDCDS is directly related to the success of each youth being served.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develop and use program resources and assessment tools to help youth identify their personality traits, skills, interests and values as they relate to exploring career options

• Work with PTS Committee to develop program details

• Use assessment findings and the career interests of youth to explore several industries and occupations and help them discover options that most interest and suit them

• Help the youth access a variety of resources that will allow them to compare and contrast employment options in their top two or three fields of interest

• Once a career choice has been established the PDCDS help the youth develop a detailed plan that will include the following:

o Identification of education and training needs

o Finding education and training

o Payment for school or vocational training

o Opportunities to gain skills through volunteer work, entry level jobs, internships and work-based learning

• Develop and execute an education plan that addresses the needs and goals of each youth (collaborate with Foster Ed for youth still in high school)

• Assist youth with attainment of education goals.

• Communicate and collaborate with DCS Case Managers and other members of the youth's team while developing strategies and action steps for goal attainment

• Provide ongoing support to youth to encourage achievement of goals and connect them to community partners and services that remove barriers

• Follow-up with youth and agencies as appropriate to document use/success of resources and referrals.

• Evaluate needs of youth and the ongoing development of the overall program

• Write reports on the program for management and for funders

• Ensure that the program operates within the approved budget

• Monitor and approve all budgeted program expenditures

• Monitor cash flow projections and report actual cash flow and variance to the PTS Committee on a regular basis

• Plan the delivery of the overall program and its activities in accordance with the mission and the goals of the organization

• Develop new initiatives as needed

• Develop and implement long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of the program

• Ensure that program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization

• Ensure that program activities comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards

• Develop forms and records to document program activities

• Communicate with clients and other stakeholders to gain community support for the program and to solicit input to improve the program

• Establish relevant community partnerships

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Social Services or related field required with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience.

• A minimum of one year of previous experience serving youth preferred.

• Ability to advocate for the interests of the youth and navigate complex systems.

• Possession of a Level 1 Fingerprint clearance card, or ability to acquire one within two weeks of hire.

• Clean DMV record and proof of insurance.

• Knowledge of program management skills

• Knowledge of Arizona Foster Care System preferred

• Microsoft Office computer skills required
