Senior Manager, Supply Chain SolutionsDescriptionThis position will manage and lead the logistics engineers in North America to help provide APL Logistics a competitive edge in its business development efforts and also assist with operational efficiency improvement projects through design of innovative logistics and supply chain solutions and development of winning proposal responses as well as help with implementation of solutions for the business won. The incumbent will also work with vertical, regional and functional managements as well as cross-functional teams to help cultivate supply chain solutions thinking aimed at taking a solutions and value driven approach in meeting the business needs of existing and potential new customers. Additionally, this role will provide required supply chain solutions support on different strategic, tactical and operational company initiatives to develop new markets, products and services to help achieve company’s growth and profitability plans. Also, this role will sell and execute “for-fee” supply chain consulting projects for customers in core and other verticals.Responsibilities:This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
Provide SCS support to business development and sales pursuits – develop creative solutions and responses, manage projects, make customer presentations, and implement solutions
Provide SCS related support to existing operations and account management activities – develop solutions and manage projects to help improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations, provide support for Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), Executive Business Reviews (EBRs), etc.
Sell, manage and execute SCS consulting projects
Develop SCS marketing collateral and educate internal and external customers on SCS capabilities
Support and lead company and SCS initiatives
Mentor and train junior staff members on different aspects of solution design
Key Results:
Sell, project manage and execute supply chain consulting projects to meet revenue and margin targets
Design, develop and help implement creative and innovative supply chain solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of customer supply chains
Develop creative solutions, their value propositions and associated write ups in support of RFP/RFQ/RFI responses
Support company initiatives as needed
Develop SCS collateral (case studies, presentations, training material, etc.) and educate customers on SCS capabilities
Qualifications
Bachelors or Master of Science Degree in Computer Science, Logistics Management, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research, Business Management or related field
Minimum 7 years experience in supply chain consulting, solution design - warehouse design, shipment optimization, network design, etc.; data analytics; IT systems development; transportation or warehousing management; Proven capability to sell business - consulting and outsourced logistics; Proven track record of thought leadership and innovation in solution design and development
Strong commercial, technical, analytical, problem solving and presentation skills
Strong knowledge of logistics planning, execution and optimization systems
Broad and deep knowledge of optimization and simulation modeling techniques
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Strong project management skills - ability to work in and lead cross-functional teams
English; Spanish and/or Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) highly preferred
