Description: SmartSource has a customer seeking an Accounting Manager for Revenue located in Tempe Arizona for a full-time perm opportunity. BASIC FUNCTION OF JOB The Manager of Accounting (Revenue) is primarily responsible for a daily report of revenue (for Product lines of business), cost of goods sold and gross margin, which is distributed to company leaders. The role is also responsible for the accuracy of the General Ledger and adherence to SOX-related processes and controls associated with these areas. In addition, the position will be responsible for leading and developing individuals within the team and supporting the Senior Manager, Accounting. WORK PERFORMED
Manage the compilation and review of the daily report of revenue, cost of goods sold and gross margin
Apply the principles of accounting to recognize or defer revenue and cost in the proper period. analyze gross profit margin on a transaction and line of business and profit center level, research and resolve any issues identified to ensure proper compliance with US GAAP and internal policies
Review of journal entries and reconciliations related to the daily revenue reporting and month end close
Perform income statement and balance sheet analytics
Oversight and ownership of key processes and related controls subject to SOX testing
Assist with various internal and external audit requests
Drive continuous enhancement on the revenue related systems
Identify improvements for the accounting close process and develops/documents solutions for improvements
Resolve business issues and risks related to current Accounting Policies and define new policies, workflows and procedures as necessary
Coordinate with business owners on new solution offerings to ensure proper alignment of operational and accounting treatment
Assist with the North America close the books accounting processes and ensures month end closing schedules are maintained.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, Accounting and Director, Finance
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
Six (6) years of experience in Accounting & Finance functions
Management experience preferred
Strong knowledge of GAAP and analytical skills
CPA required
Knowledge of ASC 606
Advanced MS Excel skills
Attention to detail
Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate effectively with various organizational levels
Working Knowledge of SAP a plus
Experience working for a large publicly held company a plus
Ability to work flexible hours as needed
Effectively work in a team-environment
Demonstrated ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment
General knowledge of information technology (networks, operating systems, business applications, web technology, databases)
Involvement in review of sales transactions for proper revenue accounting treatment
