This position is for a software engineer who will be assigned to our Auto/Fire Legacy suites. The developers within these team are providing critical support for our legacy applications. This group is playing a critical role in enabling our modernization efforts.
The chosen Software Engineer will be assigned to a small, persistent product teams in an Agile development environment and will also have the opportunity to contribute towards improving our approach to continuous integration and continuous delivery. This developer should have experience developing in a Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery Pipeline using GitLab. Any business knowledge or experience working with Auto/Fire products either legacy or web based would be beneficial.
Responsibilities:
Possesses an understanding of how technology solutions meet the business outcomes and offers a range of solutions for business partners
Understand business current and aspirational needs
Develops solutions on variety of platforms according to business requirements
Completes required coding to satisfy the defined acceptance criteria and deliver desired outcome
Leads solution design, considering risks, mitigations, performance, user experience, and testability
Completes required documentation to communicate information to deployment, maintenance, and business teams
Utilizes agile software development practices, data and testing standards, code reviews, source code management, continuous delivery, and software architecture
Participates in the full software development cycle including coding, testing, implementation, support and sunset
Designs, develops, tests and supports software in support of big data objectives
Adopts Service Design, where appropriate, through architecture modularity to enable continuous delivery
Considers applying emerging technology solutions to increase efficiency and effectiveness; expectation of continuous innovation
Resolves problems that result in a decreased time to market; improves quality, enhances flexibility, and embraces the solution provider mindset
Provides input into overall testing plan; contributes to test approach and scenarios for requirements
Provides product and/or process expertise necessary to support design, development, testing and execution of solutions
Qualifications
Desired Skills/Knowledge:
Strong mainframe development skills with an emphasis on PL/1, COBOL
Knowledge of batch job scheduling tools and processes (i.e. Control-M, Autoflow)
Strong knowledge of IMS and DB2 databases
Strong knowledge of Job Control Language (JCL)
Ability to apply Agile and Product Management best practices to assigned work
Abilityto resolve complex problems and complete complex coding assignments
Ability to effectively communicate with team members, business partners, and other stakeholder group
